Loughlin will feature in her debut romantic comedy for the network, titled Fall Into Winter, the Hallmark rival revealed on Thursday. The TV movie will be broadcast as a part of GAC’s winter programming schedule in January 2023.
Lori is a genre-defining performer who I have had the opportunity to know well and work with for more than 15 years, said Bill Abbott, CEO of Great American Media.
“I am excited to welcome her back to the Great American Family to anchor our 2023 winter programming slate.
We have a common vision for making important and memorable movies that resonate with our devoted audience.”
In a prior interview with Variety, Abbott referred to Loughlin, who was charged in the infamous college admissions scandal of 2019, as “America’s sweetheart, regardless of what happened.
” Loughlin received a two-month prison sentence, a $150,000 fine, and 100 hours of required community service.
She has a tremendous career and, at the end of the day, epitomises all that is good about entertainment, he remarked.
“Aside from what happened, she has a history of acting honourably in front of the camera as well as off it, in terms of how she has behaved herself personally. I don’t know all the specifics. She is adored for a good cause.
Loughlin hasn’t appeared in a TV movie since 2018. According to the official logline, Loughlin’s Keely is “aghast when her brother sells his half of their family-owned,
upmarket candy company to his best buddy from high school (and her adversary, Brooks),” which “forces a sudden need to establish connection and common ground.” “Keely has been wounded previously; change is now her adversary.
The past of Brooks reflects that of Keely. He too has built a stronghold around his heart. The two are brought together by fate. Could it perhaps usher in fresh starts?
Loughlin’s comeback, which started with a role in 2021’s When Hope Calls Christmas special, has been facilitated by Abbott, who formerly oversaw Hallmark Channel and resigned after the network handled a commercial showing a same-sex wedding poorly.
Candace Cameron Bure, a fellow Full House alumna who left Hallmark earlier this year for an exclusive deal with GAC, is also a business partner of his.
A Christmas… Present, Bure’s star vehicle, and Christmas on Candy Cane Lane, which will feature Andrea Barber, are two of the projects the network has already announced with Bure.
