Avatar, which debuted in 2009 and has since grossed more than $2.8 billion worldwide, is the highest-grossing movie ever.

Weaver played Dr. Grace Augustine in the movie. She was the leader of the Avatar program on the planet Pandora and an exobiologist who forged a strong bond with the Navi, an indigenous race of sentient alien animals.

Augustine was killed as a result of the Resources Development Administration’s avaricious onslaught on the Navi in order to extract the rare and extremely precious mineral known as unobtainium.

Weaver will, however, make an entirely new character in the sequel and return to the Avatar universe.

The story of previously handicapped ex-Marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), his Na’vi lover Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), and their family will be the subject of Avatar: The Way of Water, which is set more than ten years after the events of the first movie.

Weaver rejoins the franchise as Kiri, the adopted daughter of Jake and Neytiri. Kiri’s specifics, however, have remained a secret.

Weaver revealed her “goofy” new role in the upcoming Avatar: The Way of the Water in an interview with Interview.

The actor said that she was unable to tell much about herself but described the job as “the largest stretch” she has ever undertaken.

Weaver portrayed the role of Augustine in the first Avatar movie, which was released when he was over 60 years old.

Weaver, who is currently in her 70s, is portraying a character who is in their adolescent years, a part that probably calls for quite a bit of physicality.

When you add a “goofy” personality to the mix, the role becomes very difficult but also seems to be very fulfilling for Weaver.

The actor revealed in the interview that she had to perform a lot of physical training for the part, including “burpees” and “parkour,” in addition to learning how to free dive, which eventually enabled Weaver to hold her breath for more than six minutes.

Early advertisements for Avatar: Way of the Water showed Kiri studying old videos of Augustine on a computer screen with little else about the character known.

Although no information was offered as to the goal of the scene, Kiri may find herself attracted to Augustine’s nature.

Perhaps Augustine was partially reincarnated as Kiri by Eywa, the Navi god who accepted Augustine’s spirit and saved Sully’s life.

Weaver was obviously thrilled to return to the Avatar universe and play such a physical role in Avatar: The Way of Water, despite Kiri’s potential connection to Augustine.
